Gurdip Punjj To Play Shaheer Sheikh's Mother In Mughal-E-Azam
Gurdip Punjj aka Gurdip Kohli has taken up a new challenge and this one involves she playing a mother to an actor, just few years younger to her...
Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi actor Shaheer Sheikh is all
set for a comeback on TV with historical drama Mughal-E-Azam. While it was
reported that Prithvi Vallabh actress Sonarika Bhadoria will play the main
lead, Anarkali, opposite him, now we have got to know about the actress who
will play Shaheer's mother. It's none other than Gurdip Punjj aka Gurdip Kohli,
who has been finalised for the role. Gurdip will play queen Jodha in the
show. Interestingly, Shaheer is just a few years younger to her.
Bombay Times spoke to Gurdip about her new role and asked
the actress if she is apprehensive playing mother to a grown-up actor- to which
she replied, “Not at all. I have no such qualms. Though the age difference
isn’t much, I have worked for more years than Shaheer. People have seen me
mature as an actor, so they offer me roles keeping that in mind. Also, this is
a historical show and we know that women would get married at an early age back
then. It’s a strong character and I am too excited to play the part. I am a
mother of two in real life and so, maternal love comes naturally to me. That
makes it easier to portray my character with conviction.”
Interestingly,
Gurdip prefers playing mother to a son. She added, “I prefer playing mother to
a son than a daughter. That’s because a mom’s track often ends abruptly on
shows after the daughter’s marriage. I think about all these aspects before
taking up a role.”
Gurdip was last
seen in ALTBalaji's Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain With Ronit Roy and Mona Singh.
